What Do the Letters and Numbers Mean on the State Standards?
The first group of letters represents the subject area. (ex. MU)
The Next letter or number represents the grade level. (1 = 1st grade or K = Kindergarten)
The next letter is an abbreviation for the subject. (C = Critical Thinking and Reflection, S = Skills, Techniques, and Processes, O = Organizational Structure, H = Historical and Global Connections, and F = Innovation, Technology, and the Future.)
The final number denotes the specific standard within the category. There are often several standards under each category. There may also be a letter representing a sub-category.
